Chapter One

Thoughtful interiors

The Barn House is a supremely comfortable home which has been much improved by the current owner. The thoughtful interiors are beautifully presented, most recently a fully bespoke Neptune kitchen has been created to give both a stylish welcome and a practical experience for the chef!

One of the many attractive features of the house is the way in which the entertaining space flows from one room to another with the drawing room at the centre of the house complete with French windows the lead onto the attractive cottage garden.

In addition, there is a cosy sitting room with an open fireplace. Adjacent to the kitchen is a handy study and boot/utility room with door to garden.

The details

On the first floor there are four double bedrooms, the principal bedroom having an en-suite shower room and dressing area. There is also a family bathroom and access to a boarded roof space. The exposed timbers have been whitewashed which enhances the feeling of light.

Outside there is a gravelled parking area to the front of the double garage. The easily managed gardens are found to the front and rear of the house and include lawned areas. The rear garden supports a raised shrub border with Cotswold Stone walling. To the front, the house is well screened from the road by a pair of while hornbeam trees.

The Village

Shipton Moyne is one of the most popular villages in south Gloucestershire located in rolling Cotswold countryside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Barn House is in that part of the village designated a Conservation Area. The village has a Parish Church and a popular and uniquely named Cat and Custard Pot pub – a reference to one of Mr Jorrocks’ hunting tales. Tetbury and Malmesbury are both nearby and provide a good range of everyday shops and services. The main regional centres are Bath, Bristol, Swindon, Gloucester and Cheltenham, all of which are within daily commuting distance. Access to London is very straightforward with Junction 17 of the M4 only 8 miles away. There is also a regular train service from Kemble Station which takes approximately 75 minutes. From Swindon Station (16 miles) the journey time is about 55 minutes.

There are many local sporting opportunities including golf courses at Westonbirt and Minchinhampton, polo at Westonbirt and Cirencester Park, hunting with the Duke of Beaufort Hunt and sailing at the Cotswold Water Park. There are wonderful walks through nearby Westonbirt Arboretum.
